General Kim Jong Il, brilliant commander of Songun, theoretician of the Juche Idea, fighter for the cause of global independence and an ardent patriot by KFA Romania
Comrade Kim Jong Il was born on February 16, 1942 at the Paektusan Secret Camp, located on Mount Paektu, the sacred place of the Korean Revolution. His parents, President Kim Il Sung and Comrade Kim Jong Suk, were both legendary anti-Japanese revolutionaries. Kim Jong Il was born at a time of turbulent historical change that saw the birth of the great event of national liberation.
The flames of the Second World War were spreading all over the globe. While Nazi Germany was invading the Soviet Union, imperialist Japan was hell bent on spreading the war of aggression in an attempt to realize its wild dream of a "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere". This provoked strong resistance from revolutionary peoples not only in Asia but in the rest of the world, and the Japanese imperialists found themselves isolated both at home and abroad, in a political, economic and military impasse.
Even since he was a little child, comrade Kim Jong Il possessed qualities such as curiosity, creative thinking, manliness, magnanimity, audacity, courage, confidence, will-power, frugality, simplicity and modesty. Another important thing to mention is that he was really concerned with military problems from a very young age.
During the Fatherland Liberation War, Comrade Kim Jong Il stood by the side of President Kim Il Sung, going with him on the front-line and marking on his map the cities that were liberated by the Korean People’s Army. After the victorious end of the war, comrade Kim Jong Il actively took part in the reconstruction of the Motherland, mobilizing all students to turn out as one in the struggle for rehabilitating the country. During his school years, Kim Jong Il actively disseminated the revolutionary ideas of President Kim Il Sung among the students and pupils, teaching them to be always loyal to the Party and the Leader. During this period, comrade Kim Jong Il also went among the people, learning from them, actively contributing to the Chollima Movement.
Comrade Kim Jong Il took a deep interest in politics, avidly studying the revolutionary ideology of the working class, Marxism-Leninism. Between May 1966 and July 1969, Kim Jong Il conducted a comprehensive study and analysis of 31 major works by Marx, Engels and Lenin. As he confessed, “At that time I read and debated until my eyes became bloodshot and my voice hoarse. But I shall never forget those days of reading and studying.” Reading this, we can see clearly that comrade Kim Jong Il was paying close attention to the ideological education and development of the Juche Idea.
The name of General Kim Jong Il is also closely linked to the development of Songun. In August 1960, he visited for the first time the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105th Tank Division, which was the first to liberate Seoul on June 28, 1950 . This is the starting point of Comrade Kim Jong Il’s Songun leadership.
General Kim Jong Il authored a huge number of ideological works, covering subjects such as the Leader, Party, armed forces, Juche and Songun. Among his most important are “On some problems of the ideological foundation of socialism”, “Socialism is a science”, “LET US ADVANCE UNDER THE BANNER OF MARXISM-LENINISM AND THE JUCHE IDEA” and “Respecting the forerunners of the revolution is a noble moral obligation of revolutionaries”.
Comrade Kim Jong Il started work at the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea in October 1964. In this quality, he ensured that all Party members were educated in the sprit of Kimilsungism. Thus, the system of the monolithic ideology of the Party was consolidated, which gave rise to the close unity between the Leader, Party and people. The DPRK is the only country on Earth where the masses and their Leader share the same destiny and march forward together all the time.
The question of reunification was also of great concern for General Kim Jong Il. Thanks to the initiative and the ensuing measure taken by Kim Jong Il, a large number of artistes and visitors were able to visit Pyongyang and Seoul, crossing the barrier of division after 40 years of national separation. The whole process of exchanges of art troupes and home-visiting groups that proceeded from September 20, 1985 was a significant period in which the irresistible will of the entire Korean people in the north and the south for reunification was demonstrated at home and abroad. This was in line with President Kim Il Sung’s policies for the reunification of the Fatherland, put forward at the Sixth Congress of the Workers Party of Korea (1980). Also thanks to General Kim Jong Il, two inter-Korean summits were held in 2000 and 2007, which aroused the admiration of the entire Korean people from the North, South and overseas, as well as of the international community.
The 1990s were a harsh period in the existence of the DPRK. The USSR collapsed, as well as all the former socialist countries, under the pressure of revisionism and imperialism. China was also since the death of Chairman Mao in 1976 on the revisionist and capitalist path. In these dire conditions, the imperialists spearheaded their attacks on the DPRK, which was continuing to hold high the red flag of socialism, when others had thrown it to the ground. During this time, General Kim Jong Il authored a number of very important ideological works, such as “Socialism is a science”, “Abuses of socialism are intolerable” and “On some problems of the ideological foundation of socialism”. Comrade Kim Jong Il unmasked the sophistry of the modern revisionists, who announced the end of the class struggle and reform of the socialist theory, which in fact meant abandoning its revolutionary essence and compromising with imperialism, destroying the revolutionary gains of the people. “Socialism is a science”, regarded by some as the second Communist Manifesto, proved to be an important guide for all communists and progressives, which were groping in the dark after the demise of socialism in Eastern Europe and China. The imperialists’ nonsense talk about the supposed “failure” of socialism and the “eternity” of capitalism was proven false by General Kim Jong Il: “The imperialists and reactionaries are fussing about the "end of socialism", with regard to the events in some countries which had been building socialism. The renegades of socialism try to justify their despicable betrayal, claiming that the ideal of socialism itself is invalid. However, the truth cannot be concealed or obliterated. The crumbling of socialism in various countries does not mean the failure of socialism as science but the bankruptcy of opportunism which has corrupted socialism. Although socialism is temporarily experiencing a heart-rending setback because of opportunism, it will without fail be revived and win ultimate victory for its scientific accuracy and truth.”
During the Arduous March, which also occurred during the 1990s, General Kim Jong Il firmly applied and defended the Songun-oriented way of leadership, giving priority to military affairs, by making the Korean People’s Army a reliable pillar of the socialist construction. At the same time, the DPRK withdrew from Non-Proliferation Treaty (2002), which was also used as a tool by the US imperialism and other big powers as a mean to destroy the Juche-based socialist system of the DPRK. The first nuclear test, carried out in 2006, stroke with fear the imperialists and their stooges in south Korea.
Comrade Kim Jong Il passed away on December 17, 2011, on a running train, during a field guidance trip. The sad news filled with grief the hearts of all Korean people, who couldn’t believe that the General, in which they trusted as in heaven, was gone. The election of Comrade Kim Jong Un as the leader of the State, Party and armed forces gave a fresh impetus to the Korean Revolution, which soared even higher. So on December 17, let us remember the immortal exploits of General Kim Jong Il, who defended the socialist and communist cause, fought for the realization of global independence and propelled the movement for the reunification forward, all these true to the intentions of President Kim Il Sung. All of these are carried forward today by Marshal Kim Jong Un, who is identical in many ways to President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il, both in words and deeds.
Long live the Eternal General Secretary of Workers Party of Korea, Comrade Kim Jong Il !
Long live the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea!
Long live the Workers Party of Korea!
Long live Songun and the Great Juche Idea!
Long live the Great Leaders, President Kim Il Sung, General Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un !
MANSE!
