KIM JONG IL, THE HOPE OF HUMANITY

                                                     

In a world that has descended back into the recesses of barbarism, there is one country which upholds the values of human dignity, and that nation is the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. The DPRK became the beacon of socialism and independence precisely due to the wise and creative leadership of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong IL. Kim Jong IL inherited the revolutionary cause of the Great President Kim IL Sung and kept that legacy pure and intact. One of Kim Jong IL's greatest contribution to the International treasure house of Socialist thought and practice was the systematization and consolidation of the Juche Idea into a comprehensive and compact framework. The writings of Kim Jong IL on philosophy, culture and many other topics stand as milestones in the development of social sciences and as reference material for all those who wish to strive for an independent and creative life. Kim Jong IL looked at the problems occurring in the former Socialist Countries and the Soviet Union, and an offered a timely and sharp analysis on the defeat of socialism in those countries. When others had dropped socialism and an atmosphere of cynicism and defeatism prevailed, Kim Jong IL held up the Red Flag even higher with greater optimism.

Kim Jong IL worked tirelessly for the independent, peaceful reunification of Korea. In his efforts for Korean reunification, Kim Jong IL steadfastly maintained the principle that the reunification of Korea can only be achieved by the efforts of the Korean people, themselves, whether in the north, in the south and overseas. The magnanimous stand displayed by Kim Jong IL on reunification paid off with two groundbreaking summit meetings between the leaders of north and south Korea in June 2000 and October 2007. Throughout his political career, Kim Jong IL had one abiding creed, that is to put the people's interests first and foremost in all areas of activity within the DPRK. Quite rightfully, the DPRK is seen as the peoples country, where the popular masses truly rule, genuine democracy and a model socialist nation.

To his very last moment, Kim Jong IL was at the forefront of socialist construction. While delivering On The Spot Guidance on a moving train, Kim Jong IL passed away on December 17th, 2011. When I received the news from listening to the news on BBC Radio Four, I felt shocked and saddened about this terrible event. I recall writing many statements in tribute to the life and work of the Great Kim Jong IL at the time. I was privileged to have paid my respects to the Great General Kim Jong IL in The Kumsusan Palace of The Sun on two occasions, April 2017 and September 2018. The world's people now look at the DPRK with deep wonder and admiration as it is led by Kim Jong Un, the brilliant successor to Kim Jong IL. So let us pay our tributes and uphold the teachings of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong IL as the followers of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism!!
